Eleven Degrees consulting, on behalf of our internal client, Komorock Automobiles and Fabricators Limited, a company in the business of running motor vehicle garage, steel structural fabrication and fleet administration and specifically formed for the purpose of internally serving the Mini Group of companies, wishes to fill the vacant position of Night Shift Supervisor on Fixed Term Contract Basis to be based in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu Regions.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Workshop Foreman, the Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities related to machine and vehicle breakdowns during night shifts. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and automotive repair tasks are completed efficiently to minimize downtime. The position holder will supervise a team of Machine Electricians, Machine Technicians, and Automobile Mechanics, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in repair and maintenance operations.

Key Duties/ Responsibilities.

  1. Supervision and Coordination
    1. Coordinate and assign tasks to Machine Electricians, Machine Technicians, and Automobile Mechanics based on workload and priority.
    1. Oversee all workshop activities during the night shift to ensure they are performed safely and efficiently.
    1. Monitor work progress and provide guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed on time.
    1. Maintenance and repair coordination for any breakdown raised within the branch and its workstation.
    1. Maintain effective communication with the Maintenance and Operations teams regarding ongoing issues and repairs.
    1. Monitor and support the repair and maintenance of machinery, vehicles, and electrical systems.
    1. Ensure that propoer diagnosis is done and that the correct troubleshooting procedures are followed.

    1. Identify recurring issues and suggest long-term solutions to prevent repeated breakdowns.

2.      Team Management

  • Lead, Motivate, and develop the night shift team to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
  • Provide guidance and support to the night shift maintenance team.

  • Train and mentor team members on best practices for troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Monitor team performance and provide feedback to management.

3.      Quality Assurance

  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the night shift team to ensure compliance with industry standards & customer expectations.

    • Ensure client vehicles & machines are serviced and repaired efficiently, with a focus on quality workmanship and attention to detail.

4.      Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies safe for safe working environment.
    • Conduct safety briefings and ensure all night shift team are aware of and follow safety regulations.
    • Investigate any safety incidents or near misses and report findings to the Workshop Foreman and the Safety Health and Environment Officer promptly.

    • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or near-misses promptly.

5.      Communication, Reports and reporting

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Workshop Foreman and day shift supervisors to ensure a seamless transition between shifts.
    • Prepare and submit shift reports detailing work completed, pending works and any issues encountered, and actions taken.
    • Communicate any urgent issues or important information to the relevant personnel promptly.

    • Ensure proper documentation of all repairs, parts used, and work completed.

6.      Resource Management

  • Ensure adequate availability of spare parts and other materials, tools, and equipment for the night shift team.
    • Report any shortages or urgent requirements to the Maintenance Manager.

    • Ensure preventive maintenance is done as planned and in compliance with Preventive maintenance checklist and proper storage of tools and equipment.

7.      Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Resolve all operational issues thatmay arise during the night shift.
    • Make informed decisions to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop.

    • Escalate major issues to the Workshop Manager when necessary.

Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and repairs of industrial machinery, vehicles, and electrical systems.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role (at least 2 years is a MUST have) preferably in a bakery setup or industrial setting.

  • A strong technical background and proficiency in machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting are essential.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automotive troubleshooting and repairs.
  •  
  • Experience managing a team of maintenance staff is highly desirable.

  • Should be preferably a male candidate.
  • Should be ready to work in Mombasa or Kisumu or Nairobi
